Look for Established Groups

Often it's easier to fill your Adventure and Retreat offering if you market to established groups.

Be ready to talk about how your offerings can fill the needs of Business Partners and Collaborators, Boards of Directors (profit and not-profit), Company Managers, School Groups, Sports Teams, Small Business Employees, Community Groups, etc.

Market to groups that want an Adventure Retreat offering that includes:
  • Visioning and Prioritizing
  • Recognition of Employees, Students or Service by Volunteers
  • Working Smarter
  • Developing Teamwork
  • Developing Leadership Skills
  • Fostering Commitment to the Organization or Businesss
  • Helping Coworkers Better Understand and Support Each Other
  • Creating Opportunities and Understanding Challenges
  • Annual Visions, Missions, Goals and Strategies
  • Game Plans and Action Steps
Once you have your language and ideas together, make presentations to groups you feel might be interested, fine-tune your offering for their specific needs, and fill your Adventure Retreat immediately.

Finding Financial Balance with Your Offering

What to charge for your Adventure and Retreat offerings is one of the hardest things to figure out.

The easy part of determining your fees is calculating your Breakeven Point. We help you do that in our Adventure and Retreat Leader training.

More difficult is overcoming any issues you personally have with money, charging others, and your worth.

Many new Adventure and Retreat leaders undercharge for their offerings in the beginning. There are a ton of reasons they use to justify doing this. Most often the reasons for undercharging have to with experience. But sooner or later, you will want to find balance and step into being a business owner.

Once you have determined your breakeven point and you know what you NEED to charge in order to neither make nor lose money on your offering, here are some questions to ask yourself in order to fine-tune your price:
  1. What would I be willing to pay for a similar offering?
  2. Is my discomfort about charging due to my own personal financial situation?
  3. Is my discomfort about charging due to my perceived value of my offering?
  4. Is there a service I could provide during or after my offering, as part of the cost, that would help me see more value in what I have to give my participants?
  5. Are there others (past participants, friends, potential participants, etc.) who could give me feedback about my rates.
  6. How valuable is my time? What would I be doing with my time if I did not do this offering?
Remember, just because you get a free trip out of your offering (i.e. you make enough to cover your expenses) does not mean you are in business. First find your balance and then step it up!

See It And They Will Come

Want to attract more participants to your Adventure Retreats?

See It And They Will Come is a simple rule we use. Share lots of photos of your Adventure and Retreat venues in your marketing material. You know what they say about a picture and 1,000 words. Let the photos do your work.
