Topic: Creating a Safe Space for the Solitary Wild Soul in a Retreat Community

Join us to consider what makes a retreat group process safe and yet challenging. How does the leader offer enough space for the shy soul to show up? How can a leader tap into Earth's wildest resources in her own soul and, at the same time facilitate a hospitable, open space for creative community to emerge? How do we facilitate the conversation of silence in a world that cannot stop talking? Answers (and lots more questions!) will emerge during our conversation, as we ponder and discuss a core of eleven "Touchstones" or "Boundary Markers" that can be considered the foundation of a soulful retreat.

Born and raised in Angola, Africa, and educated in Zambia and Canada, Carol Kortsch and her husband raised their three children while working in diverse international mission communities. For 20 years she counseled and helped establish live-in training centers, and then settled in the United States working as a psychotherapist in private practice. She is a group facilitator prepared by the Center for Courage & Renewal, based on the work of Quaker educator and author Parker J. Palmer.

Carol combines her lifelong passion for gardening and the inner-human journey toward wholeness, advocating dynamic and soulful relationships with all of Earth's community. She writes and offers group retreats from her enchanting garden at Stonehaven Commons in Radnor, Pennsylvania
