Be A Professional Retreat Leader

We know you love taking others on adventure, in nature, perhaps even the wilds. We know you love to help others explore the unknown within and without.

If you want to make a good business of this, be a Professional. The difference between taking folks on an outing and providing an experience is your level of professionalism.

What do you know about leading Adventure Retreats in nature? We can help with that. Check out our Adventure Retreat Leader Audio Series. Join our Adventure Retreat Leader Success Team.

Now, what else do you need to know about your adventure? Here are some things to learn:

  • Interesting information about the physical environment; climate, weather, land formations, plant life, wildlife...
  • History about the area in which you are playing; settlers, explorers, communities, foods, religions...
  • How to use the equipment on your outing; snowshoes, canoes, rafts, paddle boards...
  • First Aid
  • Additional reading sources about the topic of your offering
  • What else?
In summary, Know Your Stuff. Being a PROFESSIONAL leader will serve you well.

Little House In The Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder

Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder is a children's novel based on the memories of the author growing up in the big woods of Wisconsin. This book is one of Patt's favorite stories from her own childhood. Patt says favorite childhood books are great conversation starters in those retreats that explore childhood memories and experiences that may define bits of who you are today.

Dress For The Part

Adventure Retreat Leaders have a look. If you want to inspire others to follow you into the wilds, on to the trails, on the lake, stream or river, or even into your local park, you must look like an adventurous soul.

Do you have to look like you came out of the latest adventure or sports magazine? Not at all. But you do need to look like your ready to explore. The next time you prepare to speak to an individual or a group about what you have to offer, put on your adventure clothes. Let people see that you can move, bend, reach, climb and paddle with the best.

Our Bridge Number is 712-432-0075 PIN: 736148# Note: This is a different number for this call only.

Your Host and Speaker for this March call is Deb Martin, Master Certified Coach of Portage Transition Coaching

Our topic is Using Metaphors to Design Your Retreat Themes
Do you have a theme for your getaway or do you simply have a topic? Do you know the difference? How can you be clearer about your offering using a retreat theme? And just what is a theme? What are the 3 elements that comprise a retreat them? How do you express them? Do your participants understand what it is you are offering when you advertise your Retreat or Outing or Getaway or Adventure? Join Adventure Coach Deb Martin in a one-hour brainstorming session designed to help you better understand what your retreat theme is and how you can express it through metaphors. Please bring your questions and your ideas as they related to what “Using Metaphors to Design Your Retreat Themes” means to you. Deb will share a few examples and then we’re ready to brainstorm about your Retreat Theme.

Deb Martin, Master Certified Coach and Professional Mentor Coach, integrates her coaching and her love of the wilds to offer what she calls Wilderness Adventure Coaching. Additionally, Deb co-authors and delivers Adventure Retreat Leader Training to others who want to expand their businesses and take what they do best outside.
